Peek-a-boo!

Alternate title: Back to blogging.
Hello dear friends!
I'm back to blogging. Not that I was ever not blogging, just that I've been working only on my major writing projects (and often procrastinating working on my major writing projects) and not treating this as the venue that it is--a place for me to put stuff out there, interact, get feedback, and (perhaps most importantly) enjoy the process.
So, here I am. It may take me a bit of time to get back into my regular commenting activities but I'm here and planning to stay. My posts may often be shorter than usual, or of unexpected topics. But: I miss my blog. I miss the blogosphere. I miss the interaction. I miss the days when my blog was something that added pleasure to my days.
Also, it's my half-birthday! Tell me, have any of you ever entertained the thought of acknowledging or celebrating your half-birthday? Do you make up holidays and reasons to celebrate? I do it all the darn time. Happy half birthday to me! And happy Monday to us all! Who's got the cake?
Oh, and while I'm on the subject of birthday cake, let me tell you about my favorite. One of the highlights of Staten Island, in my sweet-centric opinion, is the Mother Mousse bakery. They make a vanilla cake layered with cappuccino mousse and fresh whipped cream. Which may then be topped with chocolate covered strawberries. It's orgasmic.
Your favorites?

I have a very large truffle in the shape of an Easter Egg. Does that count?
Glad you are "back," and I'll be on your case if you start to "slack off."

That sounds goooooood. But tell me about some birthday cake, too! :)
Also, you are one of the few people in the universe with an unlimited license to get on my case. I know you only do it when I deserve it.

Easy. Cheesecake. It is always cheesecake. Anytime someone says their favorite cake isn't cheesecake I'm suspicious....unless it is Carrot Cake with homemade cream cheese icing.

We have contemplated celebrating River's half birthday, because his actual birthday is the day after Christmas, a day I like to think of as "piss off and leave me alone because I'm broke and tired and on vacation" day. I think many people call it that. Doesn't make for the most festive birthday atmosphere.
Hello, Jill.

GSR: Now that you mention it, I do recall your cake preferences!
Kat: Are any of them coming up? Can we celebrate?
Hello, Scott. Yes, that day does sound familiar. My friend Thinking Violet's birthday is January 2, which I like to call "The Day After International Hangover Day". If you want to party with consenting adults, that is probably the worst day of the year to have a birthday.

Like Kat, I've always celebrated my half-birthday. Even when I got to college my friends embraced tradition and buy me a gag gift every year.

Chocolate cake and beer is a good mix. Anything goes with cake. . . . come to think of it, anything goes with beer. Maybe they are part of a holy food triumvirate. . . . cheese? That's it!!!!!
The Holy food triumvirate (just ask the Scottish) consists of Beer or wiskey, cheese and cake.

I like being a non-traditional blogger in that I've only obligated myself to a post once a week. I never really feel like I'm under any substantial pressure to keep putting up more content and to try and keep it all at least moderately interesting. I'll leave that challenge up to all the rest of you, thank you very much :-)

Abigail: I think we should start a group blog where we all label our birthdays and various increments thereof. Then we write silly things. Then we have a Harry Potter party.
Spiffy: I'm very particular in what beers I will drink. I love cheese and cake. I also love cheesecake. But I really love cheese. And cake. And certain brews of beer. Huh?
James: I like how you refer to being a "non-traditional blogger", like it's politically incorrect or something to not blog every day... Heh.
Kat: See my comment to Abigail above.

I'm more old school. I could still get down with one of those Carvel Ice Cream Cakes...
Maybe a nice chocolate cake with a little white icing and filled with a nice Blue Bell neapolitan ice cream filling.
Not as creative, twice as delicious :)
