This is why I keep her around.

A thick, deep darkness also mesmerizes me.

Okay, maybe not the only reason.

I mean, she does bake some killer devil's food - cream cheese - chocolate chip cupcakes.

She's also damn good with power tools.

She has no problem being the one to do the dragging of my sorry ass home if I'm the one who's drunk the wrong stuff. (That's my alcohol pitfall--I'm excellent at pacing if I've actually started with the right beverage of choice. But no, I'm not going to tell you what I shouldn't drink.)

She totally acts as if I'm perfectly normal when she emerges from the bathroom to find me standing in my underwear, having taken over our hotel room for an impromptu photo shoot.

And she writes stuff like this. I present to you: Thinking Violet and Achieving Nirvana Through the Chili Peppers.

If you've ever once used a song to bring you back to where you needed to be, you need to read that.

Unfortunately, she doesn't have comments open on her blog. So feel free to complain about that RIGHT HERE.

  • The post is certainly relative to my experience... using music as inspiration for a variety of things (even if simply to stay awake). And the post has a lyrical, if edgy quality to it (of course, using the Chili Peppers as said inspiration might be part of it :) though the photo creates a dreamier reference. Nice, regardless.

  • Ok, wait. You need a reason in addition to the fact she bakes "some killer devil's food - cream cheese - chocolate chip cupcakes"? Really?

    So what's the deal with people not allowing comments on their blogs? How can we provide the post with its proper accolades? I think she should be forced to make cupcakes for every blogger that reads her post and can't comment on it.

  • Comment on the photo - inspired my son to do some at nigth motion studies for his A level course.

    So we are driving around the town with him in the back with his camera on a tripod - this in a country with a nervous disposition towards weird stuff these days.

    A police car with blues and twos going comes up behind us and I thought - "Oh no here we go 24 hours at least being interogated by they counter terrorism unit at Scotland Yard. They'll find out I was in NYC on 9/11 and put 2 and 2 together and get 3..." I pulled over and it shot passed - off to do something useful - my son got a good shot of the light trail.....

    Says more about my mind than anything else this comment doesn't it.... :-) Thanks for the inspiration.
