Non sequitur
Several years ago, I went through a phase during which I absolutely loathed the interior design of my bedroom. I'd had the same furniture since I was seventeen and was sick of arranging it and rearranging it, yet never being able to find a layout that felt organic. It should be noted that at the time, I was working toward my Master's, I had just begun teaching, I had recently co-founded a theater company, and I was producing a play that was not my own.
I dragged my brother to Home Depot. We bought bright turquoise paint, took it home, and painted one wall as a test.
I didn't like it.
But I was very busy, and could not find the time to return to the home store to find a more pleasing color. I lived with one turquoise wall--not evenly-painted, either--for quite a while. Until I couldn't stand it anymore.
Then I went to Ikea and bought new furniture.
Make of it what you will; I wish I had the focus to write something more. There is much I want to tell you.

So did you buy the new furniture to match the wall you don't like? I hope not! :)

If turquoise wasn't your preferred colour and you were after, say cobalt blue, you shouldn't have to live with it for too long. Is it time for a total makeover?

Turquoise can be a fun color. I mean, I wouldn't do that to my walls. But it could work with the right furniture. Is that what was left out of your post?

Did the wall stay Turquoise? So Ikea provided new furniture, but what happened to the wall?

It's amazing how long we put up with things that dis-please us just because the effort to change seems so great.
It was nice meeting you Saturday.

Hopefully the furniture will serve as the necessary catalyst to coming up with some good blog posts... er, wait... I think I screwed something up in there... something about paint and a wall, right?

Jill - loved meeting you Saturday night....I'll be a regular reader from now on.
P.S. - weren't those sliders at Stout the BEST?!

So what happened with the meeting? That what we all want to know about. That and your Shakespeare post.

i think the point in this post is:
- girls are perpetually in search of an organic layout for bedrooms. (i heard that before, so this is a pattern).
- don't let your brother paint the wall.
- if you did, then you should shop in Ikea
- you can come back later to find out about the wall. may be even pictures, Jill?

Mysterygirl!: I probably should have mentioned that I painted the room to complement the new furniture.
How well you know me, ChickyBabe. I do have a fondness for cobalt. And many parts of my life are in need of a makeover.
Ok Grunt, if that's your conclusion it's all right by me. I didn't give you much to go on, after all.
Cube: Yes, indeed. My tribute to The Bard is in my drafts. My brain wouldn't work yesterday.
Janet, I think I left eternity out of my post.
Indy: New furniture, new paint, new phase of Jill's life.
Nice meeting you, too, Dustin!
Actually, Kevin, you sorta got it right.
OH YES! That burger was fantabulous. Great meeting you as well, Jessica! I'll be by to visit your blog very soon.
M.A., I'm not sure I have anything entertaining to write about my weekend at the moment. Shakespeare post is in the works and will be completed after I finish the review. And this morning I graded a pile of papers on Hamlet. It's just a Shakespeare sorta day, I guess.
Yes, Kilax, I love my bedroom now. Well, except for the mess I've made with the laundry. :)
I'm going to do a few TequilaCon-inspired posts, JayMarie, but I'm not actually sure they will read as such. I have to make everything more complex than necessary.
Yes, Faltenin, I think there is. I was waiting for someone else to come up with it.
No, I wouldn't blame my brother, Treespotter. He was just helping me out!

I read still and find turquoise paint the most fascinating non sequitur of all.
Ms. NewGal is eyeing my house with paint in mind on a regular basis now. I keep telling her she needs to work on her business so she can support me and my writing. Sadly, I have very expesnive taste and little literary skill, so I fear it will be a long haul. She, too, searches for an organic bedroom layout, but, at least she's doing it in my bedroom.
