Surprise, Take 2

What you remember.
How it felt to realize that I'd been watching you. That I noticed. But didn't tell you. For so long.

What you know.
My voice. Especially since I actually leave voicemail messages. But don't tell you as much as I could. What I sound like when I'm about to tell you something, then don't. What I was thinking all those times I stopped myself before the sentences even began.

What you imagine.
Every scene I've written--the ones that happened, and the ones that haven't. What I looked like when I caught you looking. What parts I caught you looking at.

  • But does he? Does he know "What I was thinking all those times I stopped myself before the sentences even began."?

  • Hey. Give me a break. I'm nearsighted, and those are the closest parts. It's not like I'm a perv or anything. In my culture it's polite to lower the eyes a little when you're speaking with someone. It's a sign of respect.

    Hello, Jill.

  • (I like being looked at)

  • Good Morning, Jill. Lovely series of posts here.

Sorry, all out of wit and profundity this morning. Afraid I've used my quota for the month. Still, I wanted to leave a comment so you know I'm still reading and appreciating your work.

    Great work, Doll. ;)

  • CB, I knew you would catch that. You just gave me an idea for my next post. We'll discuss this later/tomorrow.

Hello, Scott. You crack me up. So witty you are. But, wrong side.

    Popeye: (by him, yes)

    Thanks, Geek. See below.

Kiki, love the cute glasses! It's funny that you made the smiley face because I was just about to tell Geek that I'm just happy to see smiley faces from you guys. (Scott, I'm sure you'll work that into your repertoire somehow.) :)

  • That intake of breath before a question? That squaring of the shoulders and piercing gaze? Surely he noticed.
I happened to me today. I caught her staring, when caught she flushed and looked away quickly, and still she looked again.
Then she was out the door in a rush, I stopped her to say hi, but she needed to be anywhere but near me. It was strange and disheartening.

  • I feel that way when the tank top under my blazer shows my clevage too. And where were you looking.

    Just kidding Jill.

    Flirting like that is fun.

  • Verrrrrry interesting, Trueborn. I like that line, "but she needed to be anywhere but near me." I know that feeling very well.

Sass, I'd tell you where I was looking but I don't want the boys to overhear us. ;)

  • wish i had a message thingy

By Blogger at the Lake, At Tue Jan 31, 06:18:00 PM 2006

  • Hey, yeah, what are you two looking at!? Naughty girls!

No, really, what *are* you looking at?

By Anonymous Network Geek, At Tue Jan 31, 07:47:00 PM 2006

  • Is this guy kind of clueless about things? Or perhaps naive is a better word. I remember having these sorts of thoughts in college.

By Blogger Egan, At Tue Jan 31, 08:28:00 PM 2006

  • I'm eagerly waiting...

By Blogger ChickyBabe, At Wed Feb 01, 05:11:00 AM 2006

  • At the lake, it actually took me a few seconds to understand that comment. For a moment, I thought it said "massage thingy"... And I was thinking, so do I!

Geek, that's girls' club info. You know how the saying goes: I could tell ya, but then I'd have to kill ya. Oh, who am I kidding! I've been trying to get the sexes to communicate better here at lil ole JillWrites, so I'll tell ya. I'd seen him before, so I'd done the once-over. So I was going for specifics. From behind, the back and the... backside... and around front... get your mind out of the gutter... the eyes.

Egan, I prefer to take responsibility. So I will say a little bit of clueless and a whole lot of not clued in. I may communicate a lot with you, but I'm not necessarily so forthcoming in other situations. ;)

CB--Just trying to catch up at work. Then I'm going to return to that discussion. I promise. I'm waiting eagerly myself.
