I See Fictional Characters
What? Yes, I know Damon is being a pee-pee head. That's what guys do. You'll deal.
I have no idea how I'm going to get these two to coexist peacefully on the same page.
Huh? No. I'm not going to tell her that. Tell her yourself.
But maybe that's a good thing--there doesn't really need to be peace until the end, anyway.
Just to be clear: as opposed to Callie, Damon does not share Jill's clothes.

I'm with you on 90% of her playlist, but NOT Mickey! That tune is a virus to the brain.

i have recently decided that 'wonderwall' is my favorite song of all time, which is strange, because it isn't even my favorite oasis song.

Is Callie around on Saturday night? ;-) I have a feeling Damon will have some competition out there.
I love this exercise, Jill. It's one of those things I think I'm going to borrow for my own attempts at fiction (which always seem to get aborted somewhere between the opening scene and the actual storyline). I enjoy these glimpses into the minds and hearts of people who exist only in imagination. Can't wait to see what happens with them!

Nice joint.
Lucky You. HA! That's awesome.
I'm going to steal Callie's iPod. I'll feel awful about it, but I'll do it, because I must.
Hello, Jill.

I'm so intrigued by Damon and Callie now. Will we get some more on the play as it progresses?

You're right, CB, that song is a virus. I think that's how it ended up on the playlist. It wouldn't go away. It kept gnawing away at me, and I kept thinking, why have a song about Mickey on there if I'm trying to hook her up with Damon?
Kat, I, too, have an inexplicable affinity for "Wonderwall," despite constantly thinking I like other songs better.
You should do it, Curmudgeon; it's fun. It also helps you to define which parts of yourself are going into each of the characters, and which parts you don't want them to have. If other writers are not as obsessed with music, it can be done with anything--books, movies, tv shows, etc.
Aren't those brilliant? All Lucky Jeans have that label--even the men's ones. Regarding the ipod--you could try, Scott, but one aspect of myself that I did give Callie--she becomes a superhero if you try to steal her 'Pod. Seriously. This is not a girl you want to mess with in this case.
Absolutely, Cheryl. Now that I've introduced you all, I HAVE TO finish the play. Accountability--the greatest motivator in the world.

I've got a pair of North Face pants I picked up for super cheap years ago. On the fly is printed their slogan "never stop exploring." Not exactly a call for monogamy.

Callie has great taste in music. And jeans. "How Soon is Now" is so awesome. Actually, I could basically say something about every song on there being awesome, however, I'll spare you that.

Definitely not, Claven. Not something a woman wants to see if she's in... uh... that position.
Callie thanks you from the bottom of her tattered Lucky jeans, Amber. Oh, now I want to talk music with you! :)

If I knew anything about the opposite sex, I'd comment. If I knew anything about the opposite sex, I'd write my own female characters. Hell, if I knew anything about the opposite sex, I'd have a date tonight!
But, I do like the exercise. A favorite variation is packing for an extended trip. What do they take, what do they leave, and why? All of that defines character. And, this post really highlights for me that I don't feel I "get" the female mindset well enough to write a decent female character.
Nice post, though, BTW.

Woohoo, do you like American music, I like American music, we like American music baaaaaby. (music kicks in) I want you to hold me, i want your arms around me. . . . .
Is that a favorite because it's a guy singing about how much. . . he loves. . . music and. . . .this girl. . . . um, never mind, you answered that already.
Great song selection. And I have to say that Callie is way too hot for Moby, uh, I mean Damon. He wishes he could be so lucky (pun intended) but then again, I'm sure many many other people do too. We need more character detail. I am sucked in to the story of Callie and Damon already and I haven't read anything of the story. Can't wait.

Way "hipper" playlist than Love Monkey, 'cause my musical knowledge halts in 1993 and I don't know all the songs.

I enjoy the quote, At the Lake, but I'm wondering in which context you are offering it. Are you calling Callie a liar? ;)
Geek, I'm intimately knowledgeable about Callie's and Damon's packing habits. They're geeks, I tell ya. Geeks.
Well, Lil Bitty, you will find as you grow into a woman that it is not necessarily the most strikingly beautiful men that are the sexiest. In fact, it is very rare. Damon is ridiculously alluring just being himself, stubbornness and all. But Callie appreciates the compliment. And thinks you should sing more of American Music.
Truly, Zen Wizard, most of this playlist doesn't get much further than '96 or thereabouts, so don't worry about it. But thanks for the compliment and the visit!

It's time to reread Antony and Cleopatra, Jill. The WS version. Yes, and read it in conjuction with the above mentioned sonnet.

Ok, M.A. and Lake, I promise I will reread and ponder the ramifications just as soon as I get my other homework done; i.e., syllabus for class I start teaching tomorrow.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention the doll in the pics has got a great set of gams.
Yea, I said "gams", what of it? Too much film noir, I guess.
